The m s Paul Gauguin All-Inclusive and Intimate Luxury Cruise Ship Paul Gauguin Cruises
Table Of Content
This outstanding program is offered on certain sailings during the holidays and summer months. Paul Gauguin Cruises offers seven unique cruise itineraries next year and nine in 2025, so it’s easy to go island-hopping on The Gauguin. Longer stays in ports of call are a highlight of these immersive sailings, including overnights in Bora Bora and Moorea in many cases.

Ponant has invested significant money in improving the dining onboard, and it shows in French butter, French wines and a wide array of cheeses, both French and otherwise, that go way beyond Brie. Paul Gauguin is full of places to relax, even more so since the 2021 renovation. The line took out the casino to expand the Piano Bar into a larger space, with a book nook and more places for pre- and after-dinner drinks. Such "forever status" is one of the great allures of cruise line frequent cruiser programs. Many airline frequent flyer programs, by contrast, require loyalty members to requalify for status each year. We're fans of both of the first two tiers of the Paul Gauguin Cruises loyalty program due to the quality of their perks.
Le Grill
Unlike some frequent cruiser programs, there isn't one clear standout perk, such as the free cruise that Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Society members get after reaching the top Pinnacle Club level. For starters, as a Grand Admiral, you get a 10% discount on your cruise fare — a significant amount. Given that the line's cruises often start at around $500 per person per day, this can add up to hundreds of dollars of savings per cruise. But perhaps the most enticing perk at the Admiral tier is that you qualify for a cabin category upgrade when you sail, should a cabin for such an upgrade be available. There's nothing like a free upgrade to make a cruiser feel good about their loyalty to a line. The Paul Gauguin Society, as it's called, has multiple status tiers that come with such valuable perks as significant discounts on cruises, onboard spending credits and free onboard laundry service.
Islands of the Marquesas & Tuamotus
Why didn't we sign up for the more extended cruise on Paul Gauguin to visit all the outlying islands and extend what was the trip of our life. We thought seven days of beautiful warm water would be enough, oh how wrong we were. When possible we would like to book for 2018 on their January/February 14 night Marquesas, Tuamotus & Society Islands. Paul Gauguin Cruises, offers an all-inclusive luxury cruise experience tailored to the unparalleled wonders of French Polynesia and the South Pacific.
A cruise on the M/S Paul Gauguin is an unforgettable experience and a luxurious way to travel to the heart of The Islands of Tahiti. The crew members onboard The Gauguin are certainly expert at providing first-class service to our guests, but they also boast many other talents that we’re proud to showcase in our crew show. Every voyage offers something different, but you’re always guaranteed a night of amazing entertainment, much of which showcases the unique cultures of our crew members’ home countries. The line now has a second ship that will sail in Europe and the Caribbean. The Gauguin features a specially designed watersports platform on the ship, perfect for launching complimentary kayaks and paddleboards in numerous ports of call. Watersports equipment is available at Paul Gauguin Cruises’ private retreats and guests can check out free snorkel equipment for the duration of their cruise.
The staterooms and suites, as well as the shared spaces on this small-capacity vessel open out onto the unique and unparalleled landscape characteristic of this region. On board, the elegant and exotic design, reinforced by an all-inclusive offer, the attentive service, the generous and gourmet cuisine and the warm atmosphere contribute to making your cruise unforgettable. The Paul Gauguin Society points-earning system — if you can even call it that — is about as straightforward as can be. Every time you sail with the line, no matter how long the voyage, you will get credit for one sailing. Your status level in the program will depend entirely on your total number of sailings and nothing else. Unlike at some lines, your status level will not be influenced by how many total days you sail or the type of cabins you book.
Exclusive Private Retreats
You’ll enjoy unforgettable days and nights on your voyage and the island views from the sea are truly spectacular. Sailing to five islands in seven days, the luxurious small-ship the m/s Paul Gauguin will bring you closer to Tahiti, Huahine, Taha’a, Bora Bora, and Moorea for an experience not possible on larger ships. To see French Polynesia is to be forever changed by her beauty on our Tahiti cruises.

Everyone on the islands who we interacted with spoke English of some sort. Knowing French would add to the enjoyment of being able to interact with the locals who were not connected to the tourist part of the islands. Time at the private beaches were a "lazing in paradise experience".I know we read this from other reviews and we have to agree, the crew so adds to what makes this experience so enjoyable. Their sense of happiness, joyfulness and wanting to please is very contagious. We did not partake in any Spa appointments but seemed to be a popular spot. We sat by the pool on Deck 8, in the water surrounded by water in every direction. Our one week flew by way to fast.
We do wish the ship would have redone the electric to put USB and power outlets near the beds. Make sure you bring international chargers and converters as well as long cords if you want to scroll while you’re in bed.
Paul Gauguin attracts an international passenger base, although Americans, Canadians and French are the prime audience. On a weeklong sailing, the cruises are 75% North American and 25% French and international, we were told, with those ratios reversing when the ship makes longer sailings to the Marquesas and islands farther afield. These can be hard to get, so it’s advisable to plan out your meals in these restaurants ahead of time so you can book soon after you board.
When the sun goes down at sea, Le Grand Salon comes alive with spectacular performances. Every night brings something different, whether it’s Les Gauguins & Les Gauguines performing ote’a—a complex line dance accompanied by drums—live piano music, Broadway show tunes, or foot-tapping rock music. Return to our main lounge during the day for a game of table tennis or lecture from a roster of anthropologists, archeologists, and marine biologists, as well as visiting experts on other popular topics. The Deep Nature Spa by Algotherm is noted for combining the art of gentle pampering with services that are uniquely tailored to each individual. A full menu of treatments includes facials utilizing an AlgoDerm machine, skin care therapies and exfoliation, massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, and body wraps. Unique treatments include the “supreme gold” massage, inspired by traditional Russian methods, and Algo Silhouette contouring, toning, and firming techniques.
Discover the difference of cruising with purpose and allow us to introduce you to authentic Polynesia. Note that for the latter perk, the change must be made 90 days or more before your original sailing date. Additionally, the past passenger discounts are only available to the first and second passengers in a cabin.
